It’s easy!

1. Submit your project details and photos through our website.

2. Receive a professional cost estimate via email, including labor and material costs.

Is Handy Estimate a subscription service?

No. Each estimate is provided for a one time fee of $24. 

Who provides the estimates?

Our estimates are generated using professional data sources like the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, industry standards, and expert analysis tailored to your project details and location.

What types of projects can I get an estimate for?

We provide estimates for a variety of job categories, including:

• Structural repairs (drywall, door installation, etc.)

• Painting and finishing (painting, staining, etc.)

• Electrical tasks (light fixture installation, outlet replacement, etc.)

• Plumbing tasks (toilet, faucet, or showerhead installation)

• Carpentry and woodwork (furniture assembly, shelving, etc.)

What information do I need to provide?

You’ll need to provide a brief description of your project, your location (zip code), and clear photos of the work area. The more detail you provide, the more accurate your estimate will be.

Can I edit my project details after submission?

Please try to be as complete as you can on your initial job entry submission. If you missed something important you can have one revision but it will need to be done manually via email. Simply respond to the email you received with the link to your Handy Estimate.

How accurate are the estimates?

Our estimates are based on industry standards and your project details. Inaccuracies and omissions in your project details will result in a misleading estimate. Get an accurate estimate by providing good pictures and a detailed project description. Ideas for the type of information you should provide will be presented in the job entry form after you select a category.

What can I do with my Handy Estimate?

You’ll receive a personalized Handy Estimate page link that you can share on platforms like Facebook or with local contractors. This makes it easy to recruit service providers or get recommendations from your network.

How do I share my estimate?

Your emailed estimate includes a unique link to your project’s estimate page. Simply use the share buttons or copy and paste this link to share it on social media, community pages, or directly with contractors.

Will Handy Estimate find contractors for me?

We don’t directly connect you with contractors, but our shareable estimate link is designed to help you recruit the right professionals through your network or community.

Is my information secure?

Yes. We prioritize your privacy and ensure all project details and personal information are securely stored and handled.

Will my photos and project details be shared publicly?

Your project-photos and project-details are visible to you and anyone with the link to your estimate (e.g. your friends and contractors who received the estimate link).  We do not share your personal contact information.
